During the events and reactions to those events in the past weeks (since October 7) we’ve been under the influence of a stellium in Libra. The Sun, classical planets Mercury and Jupiter (prone to hyperbole when in the same sign), dwarf planets Haumea and Makemake, and the centaur Elatus all tip the scales.
Since Elatus is likely the least known of those currently checked in at Hotel Libra, a few notes about him. He was one of the centaurs involved in the open container event at the cave of Pholus. Hercules was visiting Pholus and it seems they opened sacred wine without proper propitiation. When nearby centaurs smelled the wine, they charged the cave demanding their share. Hercules repelled the riot with arrows poisoned by Chiron. As fate had it, one of those tainted arrows deflected through the body of Elatus and struck Chiron. So with Elatus, there is a bit of “caught in the crossfire,” bad timing, meddling scenarios.
Remarkably notable when looking at Elatus with another of the lesser known bodies in the stellium, he and Makemake, both hold perihelion points in Aries and North Nodes in Gemini. This orbital element combination requires unfailing self confidence when articulating the best one has to offer. They imply brilliant branding, and while in Libra, a brand that is relatable, does good things, is highly palatable and possesses skill in bringing all sides together. They imply the need for an end game definition of any project, campaign or product that goes out wide to consumers or the populace. For Thomas Edison, who had Mercury conjunct Elatus natally, it was very simple: “I can get you out of the dark without the fire hazards of your current means of lighting up the dark.”
This last statement puts me in mind of the Samsung phone recall debacle and the announcement the troubled phone will no longer be manufactured. The product cancellation announcement occurred with Elatus approaching a conjunction with Makemake. That conjunction persists (conjunct on November 7) and is in play now. The need for clear, conscious PR full of promising, truth-laden solutions in the airwaves stands out as paramount parameter. Sharing the best of what one has to render to others... for the good off all... that’s lube for Libra.
The Sun currently approaches an opposition to Ceres who recently retrograded into Aries. The exact alignment occurs on October 20 - 21 depending upon your geographic locale. The Sun intends to shed light; Ceres demands her circumstances and petitions to be heard. Given Ceres’ relationship with agriculture, it makes one wonder where the candidates stand on farm subsidies and genetic modification of crops.
There’s an important more personal use for the Sun-Ceres energy: fighting City Hall. To effectively apply Ceres, there are specific rules of engagement to avoid shooting oneself in the foot or cutting off the nose to spite the face:
Be on the universally correct side of the issue for which you advocate.
Ensure that no possible thread of your personal history has any connection to what you petition to establish. If you’ve been fined for littering, or a messy backyard, it’s tough to mount a campaign for recycling.
Play nice in the sandbox.
Issue no ultimatum you cannot back up with immediate action.
Know what you want in terms of the end game.
When you get the first response, contrast it with the end game. If need be, negotiate for more. Negotiation with planets in Libra intends to provide solutions that work for all, including opposing parties.
During this transit, rabid rallies, protests, violent demonstrations will set back the causes they claim to support. While Mercury and Jupiter occupy Libra, the sign’s natural tendency for loquaciousness could be overdone. Best to issue true, context true, perspective rich declarations that do not broach the cusp of over the top hyperboles.
Remember, Elatus is in the mix. While campaigning on behalf of matters that raise your ire, taking on massive personal or global causes cannot be a function of meddling on behalf of your personal interests or the causes of those you support or love. It needs to be as far-reaching and conscious as possible - something that resonates within the higher mind of Jupiter and that the Sun will favor illuminating.
